Dry brushing is the natural beauty ritual which have been practiced for centuries to improve the skin and stimulate the body inside out.  As found in ancient spas of southern Japan (played a central role in Japanese bath rituals and skin care).
  1. Use a natural sisal brush
  2. Exfoliate only on dry skin, before showering, 5 mins once a week
  3. Gently brush body from feet to knees, using wide, circular, clockwise motions, upward toward the heart (to feel a tingling sensation)
  4. Start at one of the legs: toes (including nails), foot, heel, ankle, calf, knee, all around the thigh, buttocks then do the same with the other leg
  5. Same for the arms: fingers (nails included), hand, forearm, elbow, back of the arm, armpit and shoulder then same with the other arm
  6. Finally, starting from the stomach, abdomen, chests (just touch without insisting too much), neck, ears, ribs, back and neck
  7. Wash off any remaining dead skin in a shower
  8. Then apply a moisturising lotion (oil and/or cream)
  9. Wash the brush regularly (weekly if use daily)

The 3rd kidney

The body is a well-developed system that can detoxify and remove waste and toxins through numerous "filtering" organs such as: digestive system, kidneys, liver and gallbladder, lungs and skin.

The skin which is the largest organ of the body, is also called the 3rd kidney: it can degrade, inactivate, and eliminate toxins and waste materials, such as carbon dioxide, which are released through perspiration.

Exfoliating on dry skin allows eliminating dead skin, opens pores (allows toxins to be evacuated more quickly) and helps the skin breathe better.

Benefits of dry skin brushing

  1. Enhances blood circulation and brings oxygen and nutrients to the skin's surface
  2. Stimulates the circulation and lymphatic drainage and to aid detoxification
  3. Removes dead skin and helps regenerate new cells
  4. Stimulates the nervous system and strengthens the immune system
  5. Reduce the appearance of cellulite
  6. Increase sebum production which can keep skin moisturized all day
  7. Promotes smooth, clean and healthy glowing skin
  8. Increases energy, tone and firm skin
  9. Can reduce stress and soothe anxiety
  10. No need for soap, just rinsing with water (except for the 3 body parts)

Warning

Never brush the skin over any active inflammation, like open wounds, eczema, psoriasis, varicose veins, irritations like chafing or sunburn...
