Fried tofu in soy sauce

delicious stir fried tofu

Humans are the only hunters who kill when not hungry - Steven Spielberg

As a vegetarian (on the path of veganism), I'm not really fan of tofu, but this simple recipe is delicious.

Ingredients

1 tbsp grapeseed or rapseed oil*
250 g tofu, sliced into 9 or 10 size pieces (about 1 cm thick rectangles)
2 tbsp water
1 tsp cane sugar
1 tsp dark soy sauce
1 tbsp Maggi Seasoning

* I'm going to stop using olive oil :
  • first, it is more and more expensive and above all, olive oil scams are proliferating
  • if it is not scammed, the study found traces of mineral oil-saturated hydrocarbons and mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons which can migrate into foods during production and transportation (organic or not)... and it accumulate in the liver and lymphoid system of the body, causing inflammation

Method

1. In a small bowl, combine water, sugar and soy sauces.

2. Heat a pan and add the oil.

3. Add tofu and cooked over medium-high heat for about 5 mins, until the bottoms turn golden brown.
Turn over each pieces and cook until golden brown.

4. Add soy mixture, and cook another 4 minutes until the sauce is sticky; flipping out tofu slices to prevent them from burning and to coat them both sides.

5. Turn the heat off and transfer the to a plate.

Serve with rice or noodles and vegetables (stir fried or salad).
