The fantastic realism
Wojtek Siudmak (b.1942) is a profilic Polish Contemporary painter, living in France since 1966.
His works are often used as illustrations for science fiction and fantasy literature (Dune, Blade Runner, The Death Gate Cycle, Elric series, Hyperion Cantos Series...).
Studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris (1967-1968).
In 1988, a series of major retrospective exhibitions has been organized in many European cities, in other countries like in 2000 at Luxor temple in Egype, and in France like at Eiffel Tower, Futuroscope de Poitiers (a French theme park based upon multimedia cinematographic futuroscope and audio-visual techniques), in Nancy...
In 1989, the prestigious Palais de Tokyo in Paris hosted the first-ever retrospective of the Wojciech Siudmak's works in France.
One of my favourite illustrations are from French books covers, especially for
- the Death Gate Cycle (vol. 2): Elven Star by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman
- the Darksword trilogy (vol. 2): Doom of the Darksword by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman
