Exeter (Devon, UK - 2011) Art wasn't supposed to look nice; it was supposed to make you feel something - Rainbow Rowell (Eleanor & Park) The chisel artist Alexandro Farto aka Vhils (15/02/1987, Aquarius), born in Lisbon , is a Portuguese graffiti and street artist, Vhils is his tag name.  He studied at the Byam Shaw School of Art * in London, lives and works in London and Lisbon. He started out quite young as a graffiti artist, painting trains and walls in the suburbs of Lisbon.  He said Graffiti was my first art school and calls his art creative destruction . Considered one of the top urban artists in the world, he uses a unique technique that involves carving into and chiseling away at the walls to create stunning portraits and abstract designs. Tang Yin masterpieces

Fisherman on an autumn river (1523) The 1st virtue of a painting is to be a feast for the eyes - Eugène Delacroix Tang Yin's traditional paintings T'ang Yin or Tang Yin, romanised (1470-1524), also known as Tang Bohu (courtesy name) was a Chinese painter, calligrapher, poet of the Ming dynasty period (1368-644) and one of the most famous painters in the history of Chinese art. He came from a merchant family, excelled in his studies and was a pupil of the great Shen Zhou (1427-1509).  He was a bright scholar, wrongly accused of cheating in an exam.  Unable to work for the government, he turned to poetry and art, and led him to earn a living selling his paintings.  His life story has become a part of popular lore. These 4 painters are known traditionally as the 4 Masters of the Ming Dynasty: Tang Yin, Wen Zhengming (1470-1559), Shen Zhou and Qiu Ying (1494-1551). Sakai Hōitsu masterpieces

Cherry blossom screen In art, there is neither past nor future.  The art that is not in the present will never be - Picasso Sakai Hōitsu's poetry of Nature Sakai Hōitsu (1761-1829) born Sakai Tadamoto was a Japanese painter, poet of the Rinpa school , and also a master of ink, of the late Edo period (= Tokugawa period, 1603-1867) * .  Known for his revival of the art of Rinpa-school master Ogata Kōrin (1658–1716) and for his polychrome paintings in the Rinpa style. Suzuki Kiitsu (1796-1858) studied painting under Sakai Hōitsu and became also one of the great masters of the Rinpa school. In 1797, due to his poor health, he became a holy Buddhist monk at the Tsukiji Hongan-ji temple . In 2021, from 19th May to 19th July, Jacquemart-André Museum  in Paris organised a beautiful exhibition about Paul Signac (1863-1935), known for his luminous neo-impressionist landscapes and the principal theorist of divisionism, along with Georges Seurat (1859-1891). This special exhibition presented 25 paintings by Paul Signac, together with 20 paintings by Seurat, Pissarro , Cross and more.
