The chisel artist
Alexandro Farto aka Vhils (15/02/1987, Aquarius), born in Lisbon, is a Portuguese graffiti and street artist, Vhils is his tag name. He studied at the Byam Shaw School of Art* in London, lives and works in London and Lisbon.
He started out quite young as a graffiti artist, painting trains and walls in the suburbs of Lisbon. He said Graffiti was my first art school and calls his art creative destruction.
Considered one of the top urban artists in the world, he uses a unique technique that involves carving into and chiseling away at the walls to create stunning portraits and abstract designs.
Since 2005, he has presented his work in over 30 countries around the world in exhibitions, events and other contexts.
