How is junk created?
We stop using it because it's outdated, broken, dangerous, ugly, or no longer works. It's therefore clear that each passing day makes it more outdated, more broken, more dangerous, more ugly, and that it still doesn't work.
She is the definition of an organised person! Gisèle Pierson is an author, translator and adapter.
This book contains a wealth of practical tips, and advice that make life easier. It's a pity this isn't taught in schools.
=> A bible of practical advice, a pleasure to read for the rich humour sprinkled throughout: packed with storage hacks and organization tips, common sense, in all areas:
- The Art of Living
- Living Environment and Comfort
- The Art of Living in Order
- Maintaining Without (Too Much) Effort
- Budgeting
- Health and Beauty
- Leisure
- Time to Live
- Organizing Tasks
I particularly like the idea of the 5 address books:
1. Friends and relationships2. Contact information for people, companies, or organizations we regularly need (Social Security office, health insurance provider, workplace, insurance companies, etc.)3. Information gleaned from reading or conversations (recommended organic beauty product brandss, book titles, addresses of good restaurants, etc.)4. Storage (location of items used only occasionally or seasonally)5. Guests (names of friends or relatives invited for lunch and dinner, date and menu served, as well as gifts given to each person on various occasions)
For the past few decades, engineers and manufacturers have concocted numerous minor miracles, and unquestionably, the queen is the washing machine. Nostalgic or environmentalist writers (usually male) 😁 may have mentioned the charms of wash houses and washboards, and retrospectively go into raptures at the linens and fine fabrics whose whiteness owed nothing to washing powder X, but they cannot convince us to give up this irreplaceable ally, which logically belongs in the bathroom rather than the kitchen.
It's all a matter of personal taste, of course, but try to remain practical. When you have very young children, a white carpet is lovely for 8 days, pleasant for 1 month, horrible and detestable for the rest of its carpet life, even if it's guaranteed washable by the manufacturer, even with bleach.
If your husband is unable to find the salt if a fanciful hand has pushed it 1 cm to the left from its usual place 😁, if he doesn't speak to you for 3 days because his favourite slippers were found in the dog's kennel, if he demands his dinner at 7 pm sharp and is no longer hungry at 7:05 pm, if a cat hair on his sleeve puts him in a bad mood until the evening, he is not, I agree, an organized person but a horrible, fussy nitpicker who poisons your existence.
